PROJECT STRUCTURE

The 'Handwerk verbindet' project offers training at the BAUAkademie Kärnten as well as a two-week internship at a partner company. The training in Klagenfurt includes a language course, theoretical and practical lessons in the construction halls and classrooms.

In order to convey the content effectively, the teaching units are divided into 4-week blocks. The first week focuses on the language course, while the following weeks are devoted to practical exercises. A language trainer is on site at least once a week to provide support if needed.

After the internship, time is provided for reflection and repetition to consolidate what has been learned.

In addition to special language weeks, weekly language support is offered in the construction hall to ensure immediate help with comprehension problems. Particularly important are clarification of terms, technical vocabulary and colloquial expressions on construction sites in Carinthia.

The technical training provided by the BAUAkademie focuses on theoretical and practical learning in construction to provide participants with basic training for unskilled workers. This technical training is led by the BAUAkademie Carinthia and aims to prepare participants for a career as a construction worker. It is not an apprenticeship, but an entry into a second educational path.

After the first part of the language and technology training, we offer a two-week internship in various construction companies in Carinthia. Our goal is for participants to be hired by these companies and to be able to continue their training there.

At the same time, we aim to create permanent employment for them so that they can return after completing their training.
