Verdienst am Bau

How does pay work in Austria?
In Austria, wages in many industries are regulated by so-called collective agreements. This also applies to construction and related trades.
A collective agreement is negotiated between employers and trade unions and defines:
-
minimum wages and salaries
-
working hours
-
bonuses (e.g. overtime pay)
-
other working conditions
This means you know from the start what you will earn at minimum – regardless of the company.
What does this mean for you?
Collective agreements ensure:
-
fair and transparent pay
-
clear rules for all companies
-
regular wage increases
This is especially important in construction, where the industry is well organized and offers stable income opportunities.

Important to know
Your exact earnings depend on:
-
the field you work in (e.g. construction, carpentry, painting)
-
your level of experience
-
the type of work you do
That’s why there is no single wage, but different collective agreements depending on the profession.
